That’s right. I am going 2-3 weeks at a time with no posts and coming around with one week of posts. SO, this is my official post to tell my following (you know, my huge following that I am being rude to for not posting) that I will be back in the future with some real Everyday posts.
Right now is not a good time because:
1. It’s summer and a lot is going on, ironic, i know.
2. There are too many things on the internet competing for my time.
3. There are too many things on the internet wasting my time.
4. I need to focus on my other projects.
5. I need to focus on work that pays me.
6. I need to focus.
7. Well, Fuck.

June 7. 2011 Seersucker Social and Bike Ride
Meridian Hill Park to Hillwood Estate with a 12 mile ride through the city. No big deal–just a bunch of dressed up kids on bicycles stopping traffic and having a party.

Groupon has been a hit and many deal sites have followed from Whats the Deal, Living Social, and too many more to count.
Now we have Fab.com which is geared towards Designers and other creatives. The first few sales have already gotten me excited and on Day one I have already bought a Milton Glaser poster. Now I am eyeing the Public bicycles. But I question, do I reaaalllllly need a second bicycle?

June 3. 2011 @ Jazz in the Garden
Every Friday this summer a free concert series is held at the National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden. Basically everyone comes to drink, eat, picnic, listen to live music, and let go of the work week’s stresses. So as you can imagine, a ton of people show up and its even hard to find a place to park your bike.

This year on Sunday, May 22, I participated in Bike DC. Where I was able to enjoy 20 miles of biking on car-free streets, highways and parkways.
The ride began on the National Mall in front of the U. S. Capitol and continued up Pennsylvania Avenue to the White House and cross the Potomac River into Virginia on the Theodore Roosevelt Bridge/I-66. Pretty surreal to get to ride on the highway with no cars and getting stuck in bike only traffic.
The event supported WABA (Washington Area Bicycle Association) and proves what a great bike city DC really is.

Photo Credit: Sierra Suris, located in Bicycle Stations 14th Street NW, Washington DC
This past November I was asked to participate in a portrait project by Sierra Suris, who is a graduating senior at The Corcoran College of Art & Design. The project was for her senior thesis and is about the way people communicate in this day and age and looks at “missed connections.”
The portraits were accompanied with a message that each person wrote and is meant to be anonymous. In the end, only six portraits were chosen for the exhibit in the Senior Show at The Corcoran Gallery. I must say, it is pretty awesome that my portrait was picked to be in Sierra’s final show and exciting to see the final product. The show will be up from April 23 – May 22. More info >>
I won’t get into much more detail about the project than that…it is a very compelling project and I am glad Sierra found me by the ways of the internet to participate. One day I may be brave enough to indulge the full story publicly to the world wide web. But for now the real story is between me, a few friends, and inevitably everyone who visits the Gallery at The Corcoran in the next two months…

Since I have lived in DC for a year, it is about time I make a post about Obama. On Easter Sunday, ‘The Man’ was visiting a church just around the corner from my house.
In DC, It is a common site to see every street within a 1/2 mile radius to be closed down, blocked with police cars and swat men. And you always just put together that Obama must be around. This time it was right on my streets in Logan Circle/Shaw. So I had to make sure I got a little more details.
I was trying to be sly taking pictures of the scene after Mr. Swattman stopped me from walking down my own street…turns out I wasn’t so sly and Mr. Swattman proceeded to ask me if I could email him the pictures that I took of him. This sparked a conversation and it was confirmed that wherever “The Man” goes, a fleet of police, vehicles, swat men, etc must follow.
Literally:
1) 24 black suvs.
2) 3 limos.
3) 5 motorcycles
4) Cop car on every corner that I could walk to within 3-5 blocks
5) Swat men in full uniform
6) Crowds of people waving on the street
7) Complaining tax paying neighbors

This year The General Design Co. designed the collateral for the 62nd ADCMW Annual Show. One of the pieces is pictured here for the Meet the Judges Event. The piece follows a roast theme that pokes fun at the award show, which will be continued at the actual event.
After designing the piece, we couldn’t pass up meeting the judges. So we attended the event to meet Craig Welsh, Jessica Hische, and Jeffrey Conrad. Each judge presented a powerpoint, telling us a little about themselves and what they do. The presentations were very different and gave us a little peek into each of their personalities. I was pleasantly surprised and entertained, as many of these events can suck.
Really who cares what you think….the judge are the ones that count here.
Craig Welsh from GoWelsh brought some lovely orange & black giveaways. He was my favorite. And no, I don’t have a bias because one of my girlfriends (Lesley Hartman) currently works at GoWelsh.
They blind embossed GoWelsh on the covers of some moleskin notebooks at their very own letterpress shop. Impressive. That is cool fact number one. Cool fact number two, is that everyone gets a pair of company orange chucks. So if you want to work in a design shop that has their own letterpress setup, wears orange chucks, and is in Lancaster, PA. Go check them out: http://www.gowelsh.com

Unfortunately, websites often go years without updates. This is my vice. I regularly try to keep my site updated with new work, if not a refresh to the look when needed. The worst is when design firms and designers who claim to keep it fresh, go too long without their own updates. With that said….
I have been working on the website update for my job at The General Design Company for the past year. Proud to say it has finally happened. Go check out it out.
Also, check out the TEAM section under GENERAL INFO, because we are now hiring a junior designer and summer intern.

I have recently joined in on a new inspiration site for design. It may appear to be just another image collection blog source, but I have high hopes for this site as a user, contributor, & admirer. The site takes into consideration many design aspects that often go overlooked from the search function to the image color swatches. Not to mention the appealing layout and grid system.
